Description: The main goal of the series is to explore research-based and anecdotal evidence of habits and behaviors that promote the learning and acquisition of a new or foreign language. Participants will be encouraged to use the chat feature to ask questions, share their experiences, and chat with other participants.

Week 1
Description: A discussion of different situations that affect L2 learning, including personal situations that L2 learners should consider when taking on an L2.

Week 2
Description: Learn how socio-affective motivations and practical motivations can affect your L2 learning positively and negatively. According to research data, what type of motivation is most conducive to L2 learning?
Week 3
Description: Learn how to evaluate your motivation and set L2 learning goals accordingly; how to evaluate your preconceived ideas about L2 learning; how to set realistic goals for L2 learning. Learn how you can create behaviors that will help you follow through with your goals.
Week 4
Description: Learn to which goals and influences to avoid so that you can stay on track with your L2 learning. Learn about myths surrounding L2 lerning and acquisition that can hold you back and even lead you to abandon your goals.
Week 5
Description: Learn how you can improve your listening skills in your L2. Why is it difficult to understand native speakers? How can you keep progressing beyound textbook-level listening skills.

Description: Should you try to sound like a native speaker? Learn how a basic understanding of phonetics can help your pronunciation. Learn techniques to improve your pronunciation and articulation.
Week 7
Description: Learn how you can improve your speaking skills whether or not you live in the country where your L2 is spoken. Learn pitfalls to avoid.
Week 8
Description: Learn good habits and techniques conducive to acquiring vocabulary and to improving your reading skills in your L2.
Week 9
Description: Learn good habits and techniques conducive to improving grammar and writing in your L2.
Week 10
Description: Learn how to be a self-sufficient language learner by finding and creating your own language-learning resources and materials.
Week 11
Description: Is the so-called “intermediate-level plateau” in L2 learning real or a myth? Learn how you can avoid feeling “stuck” in your L2 learning. Learn how to re-assess your progress realistically so you do not feel demotivated. Learn how to adjust your L2 learning goals.
Week 12
Description: A basic understanding of phonetics and phonology can give you a deeper understanding of pronunciation and word formation. In this session, we will discuss how phonological and phonemic awareness can help you improve your understanding of your target language. We will also see how you can use the International Phonetic Alphabet as well as the basics of phonology to reproduce the target language (TL) better.
